Results 2012
AAI Junior Championships, Nenagh (22 January 2012) Kathryn Weir competed in her 1st Junior Competition today and although did not win any medals set a PB in Long Jump and threw well in Shot Putt. This is a big step up from the juvenile competition so well done Kathryn.
AAI Juvenile Combined Events, Nenagh (28 January 2012) Lisa Aspel, Katie Quigley & Laura Quigley took part in the Juvenile Combined Events today, where each athlete competes in 5 events and is awarded points for their results. An excellent day was had by Lisa Aspel in the Under 14 competition where she had numerous Personal Bests to finally be awarded 4th place which is a fantastic result this early in the season. Katie & Laura Quigley did not have such a great day with disappointment in some events for both but with very few points between 7th and 16th place the girls did well and know what they need to improve on. Training for Hurdles, Long Jump, Shot Putt, High Jump and 800m at the same time is very hard indeed.
Leinster Juvenile Relays & Leinster Senior Championships, Nenagh (29 January 2012) For the first time in a few years we managed to field more than 1 relay team at a Leinster Championship! The Girls U13 team of Aoife Kelly, Adanya Hott, Lauren O'Gorman and Molly Aspell took part in the 4 x 100m with 18 other teams. Unfortunately their time of 64.70s in the second heat was not good enough to get them through to the final but watching the girls run you would have to think that with a bit more time together they will be able to win some medals. The U15 Girls team of Laura Quigley, Lisa Aspel, Tara Breen and Katie Quigley took part in the 4 x 200m competition, and true to form for this relay team who have been together for a while, ran a great heat to qualify in 2nd fastest position. They then ran the final and took a well deserved silver medal, especially since 3 of the team had put in a full day of competition yesterday at the combined events. In the Senior competition Thomas Hickey competed in Shot Putt and 60m. In the Shot, Thomas came 4th and unfortunately in the 60m was disqualified for a false start.
Well done to all and to the parents for the long weekend in Nenagh.
